As a graduate student and subsequently a research fellow in a world-leading research group, I was repeatedly educated by Prof. Loh Kian Ping to conduct pioneering research that inspires people and benefits mankind. Along these years, I have chosen catalysis as my primary research division owing to its beauty to make the impossible possible. Analogous to a team leader, the catalyst must have a good relationship (wettability) with members and constantly activate everyone's potential to make things work smoothly. The catalyst has to be selective, choosing the best way among many to maximize the outcomes. A good catalytic cycle is never nonrecurring. The catalyst must be energetic whenever reactant comes and goes, even tolerating unexpected circumstances (catalyst poisoning). Such philosophy of "catalysis" makes me believe that a team leader at CUHK-Shenzhen would be the perfect choice to me to shape my career as an innovative scientist in research and an inspiring educator in teaching. This is not only because the expectation to conduct creative and ambitious research in natural and mathematical sciences at here, but also the philosophy to foster stimulating interactions among the students and fellows with diverse backgrounds to maximize everyone's capability. I would like to extend a very warm welcome to my students and friends. Hope u enjoy the life and PhD journey at CUHK-SZ !
